What is it?

These electronic shelf labels are brand new. They contain a nice 2.9 inch three color epaper display, white/black/red, with resolution 384x168 pixels. The tag measures 8.6 x 4.1 x 1.3 cm, with a display area of 6.7 x 3.0 cm. It is preprogrammed with the OpenEPaperLink firmware, so, ready to use if you already own an Access Point. The tag has two buttons at the bottom side (or, at the top side if you config the tag to rotate images 180 degrees ;-), which send an event to the OpenEpaperLink system.

What can I do with it?

The tags are ready to be used with the OpenEpaperLink system. If you're just starting with OpenEPaperLink, you'll need an Access Point too. You can buy a kit to make an Access Point here, or you can make one yourself.

Many people use the OpenEpaperLink system together with Home Assistent. Using the Home Assistent integration, you can send images to the display, let the rgb LED show short bursts of flashes (work in progress), and use the buttons on the display to trigger events within HA.

The tag includes batteries (the tag takes two CR2450 batteries). When only updating the display a few times per day, the batteries are expected to last a long time, maybe even a few years.

To save on shipping costs, you can add some other displays to the same order: a mini-AP v3 access point, simple 2.9" tags without buttons, or cute 1.54" tags.
