What is it?

This kit lets you turn your Raspberry PI Compute Module (4, any lite module ie: no onboard emmc) into an easy to use retrogaming console for your living-room television.

I have designed custom Linux based launcher software, which makes it easy to run applications with a controller. The primary use case in mind is retro gaming. The software includes Retroarch, which is a plugin-based system for emulating old game consoles. You can add emulator cores and backups of your favorite games to replay for cherished classics.

The system is Gentoo Linux based, and my custom ui software makes it easy to run most applications on the big screen, with a controller. It also supports playing videos out of the box.

Why did you make it?

Old games are great! Retro gaming is getting more popular, but it is still hard for many people to get started.

This device makes it easy to set up retro gaming on your tv. Plus, since it is designed around the Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 interface, it can be upgraded when a more advanced compute module is available. This helps reduce e-waste.
