What is it?

An optical reading head or Optical Probe is an interface that is intended for two-way data exchange between a counter, such as an electricity meter, gas meter, heat meter, water meter, etc., and a peripheral device via infrared optical waves.

The signal output of this model is based on standard serial TTL voltage level.

The optical probe is manufactured in accordance with the standard IEC 62056-21 (IEC 1107) and is compatible with all consumption meters that support this European standard.

Optical probe allows you to read smart electricity meter power usage parameters from a PC, Raspberry Pi, Arduino or microcontroller.

As my graduation thesis, I took the subject of reading and monitoring of electricity meters. The optic probe prices I wanted to examine were too expensive for me. And I wanted to make it more economical.
