The listing name is a bit of a misnomer - there is no camera mount, swivel, or gimbal. We needed a torso-mounted platform, similar to a GoPro¹ camera harness, ready for other applications without requiring extensive deconstruction. Designing a generic alternative also offered the opportunity to throw in a few additional features with an industrial flavor. So while you could use it as a minicam harness (with your own mounting hardware), it's also a great starting platform for projects involving:

• radios and other holstered devices
• mini-computers like SBC / NUC / Pi and cellphones
• video and audio recording devices
• "wear-ables"
• body-worn batteries / battery packs
• chest storage, eg "fanny" pack, wallet, map, etc.
• warehouse / commercial-industrial inventory systems
• displays and touch systems

Unlike other chestplate harnesses, the straps have no slide buckles and the clips are NOT positive-retention - meaning increased compatibility with backpacks and other harnesses (no pressure / friction points when worn beneath climbing, fall protection, LBV, etc.), and breakaway functionality for environments with entanglement hazard requirements. Strap length & tension can be easily adjusted in front, without dismounting or contorting to reach a slide at your back.

Many other harnesses need at least one closed loop be passed over the head or an arm. Instead, clips at all four corners make this much more compatible with headgear (helmet, hardhat, headset) and it can be attached in, around, over, and beneath currently worn clothing and other equipment without disrobing or dismounting anything.

The plate is semi-rigid polyurethane², more flexible than any chestplate harness available, and about 1/4" thick, which holds unterminated fasteners³ well without being too heavy. Unlike many rigid plastics, urethane is resistant to common job-site & warehouse solvents (MEK, toluene, acetone, gasoline) and virtually immune to impact damage (fall, tool drop, collision).

Wide, plush, full-weave elastic straps instead of polyester webbing or open-web elastic make for comfortable extended wear (eg shift work), reduce repetitive-motion friction injury (chafing or sores, eg hiking, construction), and ensure the chestplate's contents move as little as possible, without restricting breathing (inelastic webbing) or cutting into the skin (narrow strap), as other harnesses may.
