The Behringer version of this classic Arp 2500 module is missing the clock outputs from the original. This 2hp expander gives you those outputs, one for both Clock A and B. You can use the expander's outputs to advance sequencers or even trigger envelopes.
The expander shapes each pulse of the 1036's internal clock into a ~5.5 volt pulse with a length of 10 milliseconds, just long enough to trigger the slow envelopes of the Behringer 1033 module. (One caveat: since the 1036 can go well into audio rate, at very fast clock rates, these pulses will blur together, creating a sort of irregular signal. Such was the trade off for having this relatively long clock pulse.)
As a bonus, the expander also has connections for the noise generators of the 1036. On my system, the output measured roughly equivalent to "red" or "brown" noise (roughly -6db/oct), but with a huge dip at 100hz. It's not the most common noise source but it can still be useful.
As with the other 2hp modules in this series, this is only an interface for patching (i.e. it makes no sound on its own). You will have to solder leads onto the 1036, but thankfully only at the switches where the solder pads are large, so it's very easy to do. All the SMD soldering has already been done at the manufacturer. The expander also has a 6 pin header so you can easily detach it from the main module.
The panel is aluminum, with black silkscreen. The texture of the aluminum is not 100% the same as the Behringer, but it's close enough for me. I also tried to get the font to be as close to the Behringer module as possible, but it's not exactly the same. To assemble it you need to add thonkiconn jacks. Delivery includes the pcb, panel, and the 6 pin header (not the thonkiconns).
The total depth of the module including the 6pin header is about 20mm.
Be forewarned! This is a prototype, so the manufacturing is not up to commercial modules standard, but it is still quite nice for DIY. I'll answer any questions as best I can but I make no guarantees! It's not a finished module, just the panel and PCB.
