What is it?

Is a contactless control method, by hand approaching, having the sensor mounted behind the plaster wall , wood, glass , plastic, but not metallic or electrically conductive. The sensor is actuated through the wall finishing material by simply approach the hand to the area where the sensor is mounted. The switching distance is about 60...80mm from the active electrode of the sensor to hand.

I_switch is sold in two options: I_switch_IoT and I_switch_DIY

I_switch_IoT

Is designed to work with the I_base module. The two pulse type outputs (OUT1 and OUT2) will be HIGH for 100msec successivelly, at each approach of the sensor hand. At startup, after offset stabilization, both are LOW. At the first approach of the hand OUT1 will be HIGH for 100 msec, at the second approach of the hand OUT2 will be HIGH for 100msec. At the third approach OUT1 will be HIGH again and so on. This behavior allows the control of two relays (and two bulbs respectively) contained in the I_base module. This type of output (pulse) can be easily passed through the OR function allowing several I_switch to be connected in parallel (up to 12 pieces) in order to be able to control the light from several points in the room. The first two photos shows the product (I_SWITCH_IoT) as it will be delivered, the next two show a flush installation mode on your plaster wall.These two pictures show a way in which the product can be used. I_switch_DIY

A simplified version of the I_switch presented in the fifth photo contains a serial UART output that transmits a numerical value representing the hand to sensor distance. Has no frontal LED. This simplified I_switch has one low power output to control one power SSR or one relay. Has one bended 2.54mm header to be connected to a FTDI Uart to USB converter ( usual Arduino FTDI) Can be used to develop your own DIY projects….

Why did you make it?

This product was sold in more than 300 copies under the name Proxicap as part of a surgical sink system. It works in over 100 hospitals in the world. We would like to present for sale this version along with its solenoid valve and a soap dispenser.

What makes it special?

The fundamental advantage over other existing solutions on the market (touch or infrared sensor) is that the sensor is perfectly protected by the wall and the user does not have to touch it. This prevents soiling or germ contamination of its surface. Is perfect stable even the wall surface is dirty but not wet. The sensor is powered by a very low voltage and is perfect for sensitive areas like bathrooms, kitchen or children's room. Adding to the fact that it has an endless electrical life time, I_switch is perfect for public toilets, hotels, heavy traffic areas.
