What is it?

Instead of using proprietary ZigBee gateways such as Philips Hue Bridge, Xiaomi Gateway, Ikea Tradfri Gateway you can use this simple dongle and a project called ZigBee2MQTT to control your ZigBee devices using your favourite smart home platform such as Domoticz and Home Assistant.

Why did you make it?

Flashing MCU's can be frustrating for some users and hides a risk to burn some chip by incorrect connections. Also boards like CC2531 require expensive CC Debugger for the flashing procedure and buying a debugger for one single device won't pay out.

What makes it special?

All boards are tested before shipping and have the ieeeAddr printed on them to insure easy setup.

Device worked as described, nicely labelled - giving it a professional feel. Using with Home Assistant and with the Home Assistant add-on it was plug and play. Currently using with 10+ zigbee devices.
