What is it?

This is a four channel buffer circuit for the Spectra Symbol flex sensors. They are available through Sparkfun and other distributors as well as through us (here). The circuit also provides a simple low Q Sallen-Key low pass filter. This should limit noise and the op amp provides for a low impedance input into an ADC for reading the flex sensor value. The circuit is designed to provide a full 0-3.3V swing for the common resistance range of the flex sensors.

Why did you make it?

Fyber Labs tracks movement and flex of wearables through a variety of sensors, including flex sensors. The common application is to track body joint movement such as fingers. We have also utilize two sensors, one on the top of a flexible board to track X board flex, another on the bottom to track Y. This allows us to understand body response and stress to our board and its positioning.

What makes it special?

This is a ready to go, tiny breakout for buffering flex sensors. Just connect the flex sensor to input and ground and send the output to the ADC.
