What is it?

With its innovative laser sensor, Garadget installs in minutes and brings daily convenience and peace of mind without a monthly bill. Control and monitor your garage doors from your smartphone and other devices. Receive notification when you forgot to close the garage door. No need to buy additional garage remotes or hide home keys under the mat. Each family member can use their device to control the garage doors. Don't get stuck with a proprietary system: Garaged is an open source project with a growing community of developers. Multiple systems integrations are available and many more are on the way.

Why did you make it?

The idea for Garadget was born out of several real-life situations that I didn’t want repeating. First, it was the time when we went to friends’ house leaving the garage open... on the Halloween night! Later same fall, I forgot to close the door overnight and had to spend following days getting rid of rodents. We still forget things sometimes, but thanks to Garadget there are fewer consequences for being an imperfect human.

What makes it special?

Home automation has its great benefits, but until recently it was only the domain of geeks, early adopters and hardcore DIY enthusiasts. Garadget aims to be a low cost practical introduction into the smart home technology for the general public while providing open platform and flexibility for advanced users and the developer community.
