Read More…Solar powered soil moisture probe that uses an ESP32 too broadcast over BLE capacitance data to an esp32 running esphome to link to home assistant. ESP32 running esphome not included.
Once powered the soil moisture sensor will take readings and broadcast the reading over BLE for 1 minute and then will go into deep sleep for 4 hours and then repeat.
ESPHome yaml sample code can be found here on how to set up an ESP32 running ESPHome to become a BLE Tracker device.

The sensor is uncalibrated and will send raw data values over BLE which can then be used to calibrate within Home Assistant or any other system. Tips for calibration are to use a fully saturated pot of soil and a pot of dry soil.

*Garden Tinkerer is not responsible for any water damage to product once it is used. Edge of PCB board is sealed, but may require resealing with epoxy if edges become damaged. It is also the buyers responsibility to properly seal the 3D printed case once you receive the soil sensor. Best recommended way is using outdoor waterproof silicon. 3D case will also turn yellow in the sun.***
