Behold, the jankdek. The Jankdek is an extremely customizable, and very cheap macropad aimed at beginning content creators or designers who just want some extra keys. It's designed with care, but it's designed to a price point

Based on the RP2040 and running a fork of QMK, the jankdek provides 16 clicky mechanical switches and four rotary encoders with a tactile click as well. It comes in a nice little cardboard box and a little quick start guide,

why should I buy this over something like a StreamDeck?

well, frankly, this is a lot cheaper. The StreamDeck allows for more integration with things like OBS or Twitch -- which you won't get here. However, the JankDek requires no software running on the host PC. You'll need it once, to configure it, but from then the jankdek can be moved from PC to PC without need to install any software. This makes it very handy for people on company PCs who may want some extra functionality.

My original inspiration for the jankdek was to provide an easy, low-cost-of-entry solution for running Open Broadcasting Software (OBS). To be able to switch scenes, trigger effects, etc requires some sort of external device. The jankdek fills this need near perfectly -- low overhead, low cost, and can easily be mapped to whatever key or key combination is required.

give me the dirty technical details

well, for starters it's running on a RP2040 and is running the Vial fork of QMK. It has an 8Mbit flash, so you can probably enable every single feature in QMK and have some space to spare. The switches are Kahlil Blues and are sufficiently clicky. The case is 3d printed. The knobs are metal, though, which is kinda neat.

By default, I'll ship the grey 3D printed enclosure shown in the photos. I may be able to do a custom color, just shoot me a message before hand to confirm and select the "Custom" option. Please also leave a note in the "Additional Instructions" field on the checkout page. If I can't accommodate, and can't get a hold of you to confirm a different color, I'll just ship grey. It will always ship with teal keycaps. These are often printed to order, so it may take me a couple days to get it printed and put together.
