What makes it special?

It's inexpensive, easy to build and multiple units can be chained together to give greater capacity. It doesn't require special PCB mount PowerPoles. Simply crimp a small length of copper wire, about 1.8 - 2mm in diameter and solder in place. Fuse holders are 2-pin PCB mount. Available cheaply on eBay etc.
