What is it?

The E2R16 adapter allows you to read/write 27C400 ROM pinout compatible EPROM to the popular Minipro TL866. The 27C400 series are compatible with Amiga computers and many arcade machines.

To use the adapter to read Mask ROMs or write 27C400 EPROMs select 27c4096 and de-select "check ID" in the Minipro GUI. Then read and write as usual.

Why did you make it?

The Minipro TL866 is very popular among hobbyist because of its low price and ease of use. Its list of supported chips is however somewhat limited compared to more expensive professional programmers. The E2R16 adapter adds support for the 27C400 series which are not supported on the minipro.

To complete the adapter you will need to procure and assemble the following components:

• 2x 20 pin 100mil (2.54mm) pitch headers
• 1x 40 pin socket
• 1x 0.1uF 16V X7R 1206 capacitor (C1)
• 1x zero ohm 1206 resistor (R2)

R1 should not be mounted.
