The Nintendo 3DS: USB-C Kit is a board that allows to replace the original charging connector for a modern and standard USB-C.

If your original connector is too old or damaged and you need a new one, or if you would like to charge your Nintendo 3DS with a standard USB-C charger, like the charger of your Nintendo Switch, phone, laptop, you can with this kit.

This board is compatible with these 4 models:

Nintendo 3DS

The kit also includes a plastic piece which can holder the dock metal contacts from the original connector, that means you will be able to charge it by USB-C but also with the charging dock.

Very simple and easy

I bought this mod for my original 3ds and was not disappointed. Very simple to do with basic soldering experience. If you are trying out this mod, be careful when filing away at the plastic. You have to be careful to get it perfectly fit.

Never received item.

Item shows shipped but nothing ever happened. Be careful with ordering. Shipper didn’t confirm receipt and it looks like they didn’t ship it correctly.

I cannot know your order number just by your first name, Carl. In any case, if there's any issue with the shipment or product, the best thing to do is to contact me so that I can provide proper support. Since I don’t know who you are, I can’t check the status of the shipment, whether it was attempted to be delivered and you weren't there, if it was at the office waiting to be picked up, if it was returned to me, if it got lost, if I've opened an investigation claim on the shipment, if I've issued you a refund, etc. As you can see, there are many things that can be checked before writing a bad review, and it’s a shame you didn’t follow the correct procedure to resolve the issues.

If you are from the United States, you will see in the Tindie shipping information that the tracking numbers don’t work with USPS for all states, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been shipped, left the country of origin, entered the destination country, attempted to be delivered, etc. That’s why it’s important to request support properly to investigate what might have happened. I handle about 150 shipments a month, so it's normal for some shipments to be delayed or lost. If it happened to you, it’s simply bad luck, but again, there is always a solution.

Did not line up with solder points

The tool did not line up the contacts properly and ended up breaking halfway through leaving stray plastic inside the port.
My 3ds' motherboard is fried

Hello,

If you wish, you can open a ticket regarding your order, from there you will be able to attach images of your installation and I will try to help as much as possible. Your 3DS shouldn't be fried unless there has been some short circuit, and if so, most likely only the protection fuse has been affected.

Perhaps you missed a step from the installation guide since you are the first customer to encounter problems after more than 600 units sold.

Great Mod

This mod is easy to install and only requires basic soldering skills. The bracket to fill the gap is also a nice touch, it fits great and looks much better than having a hole (I wish the 2DS mod came with one too).

Make sure you follow instructions correctly because there are ribbon cable connectors that must not be opened. Once you open them they WILL NOT close again and the 3DS will not turn on. The guide does a great job showing these specific connectors.

Amazing mod for the 3ds systems

Its such an easy fix for an older system to bring it back to life I really love the item of being able to add type c to an older system making it easier to charge everything about the transaction was amazing as well.

Easy mod with compherensive instruction

I liked everything about this mod. It's well thought out, works well and easy to do (except reconnecting the ribbon cables, which is a bit tricky). The packaging is minimalist and neat.
I had some issues with the bottom shell bulging after installation, so I wrote an email to giltesa and they responded very fast on the same day and provided tips regarding removing some of the plastic in the area, which helped. It's bulging a bit still but it's good enough.
I'm happy with the end result. I recommend it.

The best type C kit for 3DS

Installed on my 2 consoles and both works perfectly. Needed meticulous soldering/filing/polishing techniques, but all the efforts pay off.

Works great for the original 3ds

Had to remove more of the shell but it works fine. Great little board. Would definitely buy again if needed, especially since parts for the original are so scarce.

Worked perfectly!

Worked perfectly! Thank you! Installation was relatively easy on the new 3DS XL, just go slowly! One re-assembly tip: the top-lcd ribbon cable (the right angle connector of the 2 that connects to the back of the motherboard) is GOLD SIDE TOWARDS THE PCB. The rest of the ribbon cables are obvious which direction they go. This was super annoying to fix, since you basically have to completely disassemble to access it.

EDIT: I've now installed this mod in an new3DS XL, new3DS LL, and a regular-sized new3ds. All went smoothly!
