For sale are new-made reproductions of the Ohio Scientific 580 8-slot backplane/motherboard. These backplanes were usually found in larger Ohio Scientific systems, but can be used as the SYS bus backplane with the Ohio Scientific 560Z "Processor Lab" board, in custom cases, or as a bare board for test bench setups. These are 1:1 reproductions made from 4000 DPI scans of original boards, with respect to trace and mounting hole placement. They have been run on extra-thick 2.4mm (0.095 inch) FR4 stock to reduce the excessive flex experienced with original Ohio Scientific products.

The OSI 580 backplane supports up to eight OSI 48-pin slots. Footprints are provided for termination resistors, and the board includes optional buffers for extending the system with multiple OSI 580 backplanes. Each position requires four Molex KK-396 (formerly KK-156) 12 pin headers, part number 26-20-2121. You can find Molex's page on the correct part number at the following link:
