Great device and a lot of fun to assemble

I never thought I could hand assemble something that would slide into an ISA slot and actually work. It's a nice sense of accomplishment doing this kit!

It brought my Epson Equity II back to life! This is the computer I grew up with.

Using more modern storage with an OLD XT couldn't be easier

Almost 2 years have passed since installing the XT-IDE in my IBM 5155 with the slot-8 module. It still works exactly as intended with zero issues. This is definitely the best option for upgrading an XT's storage. Booting from compact flash cards makes the XT about as fast as you can get it. A 256MB card is more than enough for my purposes. Component suppliers for the bits that make up the XT-IDE can be painfully slow though. Keep that in mind when ordering as this will extend the lead time.

Excellent product

Very high quality kit, easy to assemble, but you'll have to dig around on the website(s) to find instructions and information. I wish they would put everything in one place, clearly labeled. The board works perfectly. I'm using it in a PT68K-2, which is an Motorola 68000 CPU motherboard in a PC/AT case. Of course the XT-IDE IBM PC BIOS is useless in a 68K machine, so I'm writing my own hard disk drivers in 68K assembly language. It's slow going, but so far, so good, and the XT-IDE board is working just fine. I have not tried it in my PC/XT clone yet...

I love this Kit best price and great fun to make yourself

The Kit is Full with All IC's in package DIP easy to solder and assembly. The PCI Board has label (silkscreen) to identify all parts IC's. The rest of parts are in small package include capacitors, resistors,LED and other. I like it! I hope that works fine, i don't assembly yet.

Works like a charm

I use this controller in my older 8088 pc from Philips. The soldering part was fun and the installation very easy.

I did a test with my older 1.6 gig harddisk and it work like a charm. Even my older seagate 40mb at ide works.

Cf cards however is a bit more hassle, you need the proper adapter or it wont show after a reboot (crtl-alt-del) and then you are stuk on waiting. And let's face it, there a so many different cf types, so a few not working won't matter.

products like this. Maybe an Adlib card for those "Commander Keen" games :-), sound blaster is way to new :-D

Works Well

Took quite a while to ship and was missing some parts, unfortunately I never got a response back on the missing parts but was easy enough to source them locally. Other than that it works well and does the job. No documentation but the board is clearly marked with what need to go where.

The best product that I bought over the past 2 years

I really do recommend the product and also the seller which whom the communication was very good.
The kit once assembled is working as it should, no surprise. What a dream to be able to hooked up an IDE HDD to my old XT computer.
The kit is quite easy to assemble as long as you have a minimum of experience in welding.
I've got no documentation with the kit but it is easily to fin on the web. Again, a minimum of good sense is required.
So one word for me : PERFECT
And thank you to still develop such a device nowadays.

A great bit of tech. Fair price & fast dispath

A great XT-IDE board. Fast dispatch and at a very fair price. Great for retro computer restorations and an easy kit to assemble. I have no trouble in giving it a big thumbs up. I may get another in the future, for my next restoration project. Great communication from Glitch Works. Easy going and very helpful. A++
