Why did you make it?

I wanted something to power portable projects and charge USB devices from batteries and solar panels, and to reuse old power bricks and wall warts.

What makes it special?

Variety of connectors and pads for many applications, including two USB connectors with Direct Charge Mode.

Very low profile, no bulky coils or electrolytic capacitors. Easy secure mounting with M3 or #4-40 screws on 40mm centers. Lightweight < 13 grams.

Description

PWRLNK-55 is a versatile 5V 5A output power supply, with a full wave bridge at the input. Not just a cheap crowbar diode for polarity protection, but full power operation with either input polarity.

• DC sources: batteries, laptop power bricks, solar panels, 7 to 28 V
• AC sources: 6.3V, 12.6V transformers, small generators, 6 to 13 V

It has a full ground plane to spread heat and reduce noise, a TVS diode to chop off short spikes that exceed the max input voltage. No external heat sink is required.

Includes connector kit: 2 USB, 2 terminal blocks, a 5.5mm OD / 2.1mm ID barrel jack.
