What is it?

A board that converts an ESP8266 ESP-07 or ESP-12 module to an ESP-01 with additional GPIO outputs (and external antenna connector with ESP-07 module only). The PCB size is 20mmx22mm

Why did you make it?

ESP-01 is a great module, there are many cheap programmers made for it, and its easy to use, unfortunately, you can't connect an external antenna to it and you have a limited amount of GPIO pins. The ESP-01 module is also not FCC and CE certified. There are other great FCC and CE certified modules with more GPIO pins like ESP-12 or ESP-07 with additional external antenna connector, but these modules are not easy to program and to use like ESP-01.

What makes it special?

This PCB combines almost all the best features of ESP-01 with an ESP-07 or ESP-12 module. Have you tried to enable the power-saving deep sleep mode in ESP-01? It's very complicated and requires a precise soldering job to enable deep sleep in the ESP-01 module. This PCB has an ESP-01 pin header connector with additional GPIO outputs and a simple deep-sleep enabling solder jumper.

What you get?

A single ESP-12/ESP-07 to ESP-01 converting PCB without pin headers, just a board.

How to solder?

First solder the pin headers to the board, then solder the ESP-12 or ESP-07 module to the PCB, also don't forget to connect GPIO-15 to the GND pin with a solder bridge. In case you would like to enable a power-saving deep sleep mode of the chip, you'll have to solder bridge the DS solder jumper.
