What is it?

What makes it unique?

IN-12 Nixie tubes were produced long ago in the Soviet era, back in the 70-the 80s of the last century. This clock is a piece of history that combines retro technology with technology of the modern.

It connects to your wifi network and uses NTP to get the time, which makes it the most accurate nixie clock.

It has a 3D printed enclosure, I have published the .stl files to the GitHub repo in case you want to print a different enclosure for it.

• "Clock sleep" to turn off the nixie tube for some time i.e. in the night
• RTC Chip with battery backup, so the clock can also work without internet

What do you get?

A ready to use nixie tube clock. It includes an IN-12b nixie tube driven by an esp8285 ESP-M1 module and a 3D Printed enclosure.

The clock firmware comes pre-flashed.

What else do you need to get that doesn't come with Zifra?

• An optional CR1220 coin cell battery for the RTC chip so your Zifra can work i a offline mode.

WARNING!!!

The Zifra Clock has a high voltage step-up power converter (170 Volt) inside, which drives the tube. Even though it has a low current, you should never open the clock enclosure and touch contacts inside when it's connected to a power supply.

How to start using the clock?

You will need a micro USB cable with a 5V power supply to power it.

This clock requires a 2.4 GHz Wifi network and a Wifi connection for a time serving.

After you connect the 5V power supply, you'll have to connect to the Zifra wifi app and provide your home network credentials. Zifra will connect to your home network where you'll be able to continue the configuration, and set the time serving format, and your timezone. You will find Zifra's IP address in your router's admin panel or with any local network scanner app.

How to read the time?

• numbers without a dot on the bottom left are the hours
• numbers with a dot on the bottom left are the minutes

The demonstration video shows the time in a 24 hours format. A 12 hours format can also be set in the configuration web interface.
