What is it?

a CC2652P ZigBee Stick v4.5 with Ser2Net support. It works the same way as other Zigbee 4.0 USB Sticks, just has additional ser2net support. It is supported by almost all home automation systems.

Why did you make it?

I needed a ZigBee dongle that supports Ser2Net, so I designed a PCB with ESP8266 connectors.

What makes it special?

ser2net support and external antenna connector This will bring serial communication to the wireless network. So you can set a wireless serial port in your Zigbee gateway. Also helpful if your ZigBee gateway doesn't have enough USB Ports.

The Zigbee module is flashed with Zigbeer E72 by Egony coordinator firmware. Red LED shows the ready state, Green LED blinks when some data signal is received.

The (optional) ESP8266 ESP-01 Module is flashed with an esp-link ser2net firmware.

It has a tight-fit solderless pin header connector so that you can connect an ESP-01 module with ser2net firmware to it without soldering. Ser2net allows you a wireless connection to your home automation hub, i.e. you can connect the dongle to any 5V power supply and it will serve the data wirelessly to your HomeAssistant/zigbee2mqtt. It also has an external IPX antenna connector.

Actually, from personal experience, you don't need an external antenna for it, it has a powerful amplifier and a PCB antenna on board. Previously I have used the cc2531 stick with antenna, but this module as it is without an external antenna beats the cc2531 with an antenna in all the ways, the signal from CC2652P is much stronger and stable. An in zigbe2mqtt you can set the transmission power for CC2652P with transmit_power: setting.

What makes the ser2net support so special?

• If you HomeAssistant Hubs all USB Ports are taken and there is no way to connect a ZigBee dongle, with ser2net you can connect it wirelessly through your wifi network.
• If your HomeAssistant Hub is placed in the area with a bad ZigBee signal connectivity i.e. behind a thick concrete wall or in a metallic server rack. You can place the Hailbee dongle in any area where your Wifi signal is available and it will deliver the data wirelessly through your wifi network.

What you get?

Fully-assembled pre-flashed plug and play Zigbe Coordinator USB Stick. A ready-to-use soldered HailBee dongle with pre-flashed Zigbeer E72 by Egony (CC2652P_E72_20210319 Z-Stack_3.x.0) coordinator firmware. Optionally you can acquire a ser2net ESP-01 Module with a pre-flashed esp-link firmware and an external antenna.

How to configure zigbee2mqtt?

For HailBee dongle without ser2net module port: /dev/ttyUSB0

For HailBee dongle with ESP-01 ser2net module port: 'ser2net_IP_address:23' More information about configuration and setup are available at the official esp-link page.
