What is it?

This is a through-hole only kit designed for beginners. Once assembled it is a simple game. To win you need to push the button at the correct time so that the pattern will get brighter. Once at maximum brightness the direction the LEDs light up in will change.

Why did you make it?

At 34C3 I taught a workshop on soldering and programming Arduino shields. Many of my students were in relationships with electrical engineers or computer programmers. After the class, many of my students' partners were very excited. They came up to me and said things like, “I have been trying to get my girlfriend/boyfriend/husband/wife to program for years, and last night she/he spent all night shopping on Aliexpress and adafruit.” This kit reminds me of their happiness.

What makes it special?

It is both a play on words--because you literally turn it on, and give it to someone who turns you on--and a tool for teaching soldering. What engineer, hacker or maker doesn't want a partner who can solder? However, depending on who you give it to, it is either affectionate or harassment--please only give this to people who love you back.
