What is it?

This is adapter for all 3 generations of Pocket Operators, making it controllable via MIDI. There are pogo pins on the board which make direct contact with the exposed button pads on the PO. Therefore we can simulate buttons press by switching the current on and off. The adapter is held in place by a custom 3D printed holder. For the brains, it uses a Teensy 3.6. The main advantage is of this adapter is the fact that you don't need to solder anything on the PO to make it work and it is easily removable.

There are 4 main features :

1.All 23 buttons on the board can be triggered via Midi Notes. It's is powered by a Teensy 3.6 which means you can plug a USB Midi controllers directly into the adapter without external power. Additionally, you can also used a powered USB hub to plug in more MIDI controllers. The adapter also acts as a midi device which means it's controllable via computer as well.

2.A MIDI output jack has been provide and acts as a "MIDI Merger" similar to the rockit-005. Both signals from the USB-host and USB-device are merged together and send to the MIDI OUT jack.

3.There is an internal digital polyphonic synth running on the adapter and outputted via the 3.5mm jack. This synth is based on the Teensy Audio Library and runs on a separate Midi channel than the pocket operator control channel. The synth has :

• 2 VCO with modifiable shape for each VCO and Detune + Octave control for VCO2
• 1 Low-pass filter + Resonance control
• ADSR control
• Digital Delay with Delay Time and Feedback control
• Mix between VCO1 and VCO2
• Master Volume
• Supports Aftertouch
• All parameters(16 of them) can be controlled via MIDI

4.MIDI clock to PO clock converter (work in progress)

• There is a second 3.5 mm jack for this purpose.

Why did you make it?

I've always wanted to be able to control the PO without pressing the tiny buttons without making modification to the PO itself. Unfortunately, nothing of the sort exists on the market yet.There were a few hacks done previously but they all required soldering on the PO itself

What makes it special?

No soldering required on the Pocket Operator itself. Using a clever system comprised of pogo pins and 3D printed cover, the adapter can be easily attached or removed.

The Teensy 3.6 is included by default.However, if you live the US, it will probably be cheaper to order the Teensy directly from PJRC. If you decide to order from PJRC, you will need to solder on the USB-Host header (4 pins)

The Pocket Operator is not included
