IPS-PI40 is a 480x320 4.0" IPS display connected to RPi's SPI bus. It works with 64 MHz SPI clock and is capable of approx. 17 FPS. Additionally it compresses the data that is being transfered over SPI. SPI compression works very well in GUIs therefore FPS in GUIs is much higher. Comes with a resistive touchscreen and controller. Optionally five push buttons can be mounted.
The IPS-PI40 connects directly to the GPIO connector of the RPi. IPS-PI40 uses only SPI pins and one GPIO pin. Optionally additional pin can be used for backlight dimming. The rest of pins are free for other use. Push buttons require no additional GPIO pins, their status can be read over SPI. The shield also includes 4 mounting holes for
The IPS-PI40's driver makes it a primary display for RPi which means that there is no need for any special libraries easy mounting.or software to control the LCD. Common software like Qt, Xwindows, etc. can be used for developing applications. Driver and display support DMA, SPI compression technology and up to 64 MHz SPI clock.

Does work, but hard to get working.
You have to use their precompiled kernel which make it useless if you need any other custom drivers. Documentation about protocols and pinouts are hard to find or does not exist. The touchscreen was the only thing that worked out of the box. (But had to reverse an axis) State of front bottons can only be accessed from C code.
Good if you want a touchscreen on your raspberry pi, don't need to compile your own kernel and like programming in C.

Overall I'm very happy with the screen and service
I'm a total Newbie to the Pi world, so set for me was complicated by my lack of know how. But, so far communication and support has been very good and I now have the screen running on my Pi.

nice big display, good quality build
One thing I miss is comprehensive documentation and source for the kernel modules. Sure I can download a special kernel, or modules for some certain generic kernel, but I would rather it be a compilable module or diffs for the kernel.
