Inside the MiniPlay is an atmega328p which uses hardware serial to communicate with the minitel via the DIN port. The MiniPlay is powered from DIN port using a linear regulator. Videotex games are developped using Arduino IDE and sources are available on github (see source code below).
Each game corresponds to one cartridge color, starting with 2048 game in orange.

The MiniPlay is designed to be relatively low cost, so it does not offer a usb interface for programming. ISP port is exposed on pcb bottom side to upload the program after assembly. For easy software development, see the MiniDev available on my store.
Why did you make it?
I'm always thinking about reusing the minitels as they are so much of them going to trash in France.
One day, I had the the idea to reuse it as a retro game console. And having a cartridge for that use case makes it so real ! When you think about it, minitel games already existed but you had to pay expensive call rates to play them so this cartridge would have been super cost-effective for users. For sure, this cartridge will make me rich, but in a past that never existed...
What makes it special?
It is relatively cheap, works out of the box. It is maybe the most accessible way of reviving a minitel without a landline !

What a wonderful idea!
Minitel was my first connected device, an iconic piece of french technology. These days they sell for next to nothing, and now you can revive them with a pure retro-style game-in-a-cartridge. I can’t wait for the next game!
