What is it?

This product is a PCB which can be used as a reliable and compact mount for popular HC-SR04 sonar sensors. These sensors are widely used in hobby robotics projects, as they are cheap and easily available from a number of manufacturers. However, they are not very easy to mount, and available mounts (usually bent plastic brackets) require a lot of space, more than doubling vertical space required for a a sensor.

This board provides an easy solution for this problem. It requires soldering the sensor to the board; the board provides mounting holes for M3 screws as well as holes for soldering wires, male headers, Grove, or JST PH connectors for easy connecting the sensor to your microcontroller.

Each order includes:

4 sonar mount PCBs
4 6-mm M3 standoffs, with screws and nuts

Note: sonar sensors are not included!

Usage

To use it, you need to

solder the sonar to the board, on the side without labels, as shown in the photos. Be careful to keep the board perpendicular to the sensor when soldering
use diagonal cutters to trim the sensor pins protruding through the board
choose the connector to use. The board provides holes for soldering straight or right angle male headers, Grove connector, or 4-pin JST PH (aka Stemma) connector - make your choice! You can also solder wires directly to the board if you prefer. Connectors are not included
mount the board to your robot or project, using the 3mm mounting holes. You can mount with the board on top or at the bottom. If mounting with the board at the bottom, make sure the protruding pins do not come in contact with metal surfaces by using a standoff between the board on mounting surface (6mm M3 standoffs are included). If necessary, use electric tape or other method of insulation. If mounting with the board at the top, use 22mm long standoff (not included)

So useful!!!

I attached an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor to a project and it was a total pain in the butt to keep it upright and pointed out. This little kit is perfect, and now my sensor doesn't flop all over the place and trigger on things it's not supposed to! This is exactly the kind of awesome helpful thing I come to Tindie for.
