A device to replace your old RF circuit, whether it works or not, inside your VIC-20 to generate a perfectly clean and clear picture in either S-Video or Composite.

This device gives an amazingly clear picture! This will even appear better than the "s-video mod" for VIC-20's, which disables the Composite circuit from backfeeding into S-Video. This unit will completely bypass your RF circuit block on the VIC-20. This will remove all blurring, amazingly even from old CRT televisions; just pixel-perfect. If you have a bad RF circuit and can't find the problem, or if you need to test a VIC chip to determine if a video problem is the chip or not, or if you just want to have super clear video, THIS IS THE BOARD FOR YOU! Works for all versions of the VIC chip (including both PAL and NTSC versions).

Simply remove your VIC chip from socket, place device in socket, place VIC chip in device. You now have actively-filtered LUMA and CHROMA with 75.0 ohm impedance output, ready for your TV. The adjustment is for brightness, which needs to be turned up if you do not have a picture after installation.

For a more detailed installation, remove your VIC chip, insert device (aligning the socket notches) and then insert VIC chip (align the notch) on top. You will need to solder 2 wires from this board to the motherboard, but first find the Luma & Chroma from the Video Port, trace these to their DIN pins and find the components in the RF block that they connect to, either using a DMM or Continuity Tester or circuit schematic. You can cut those legs to disconnect the old RF block from the DIN, or cut away the components, or just desolder one leg and pull it free so the other leg is still in place, should you ever decide to undo this change. Solder the wires into those through-holes, to bring the new Luma and Chroma to the Video Port. Make sure nothing else connects to those wires, such as any portion of the old RF circuit.

• I include one capacitor to connect Luma + Chroma (either on the clearvideo board at the video output, or on the VIC motherboard near the Video Port) to convert Luma into Composite. This is a permanent install unless used inside a DIN connector. The Chroma signal can not be connected to anything else except that capacitor in this configuration for proper operation.
