These fit the LONGBOARD C64 systems, replacing the large square metal box at your video port (original large RFM), regardless of case type (old breadbins and newer cases too).

Screenshots taken with android camera on a 5:4 LCD with just an S-Video cable connecting to the C64 and video chip MOS6567, nothing else in-between. The camera has a strange effect, but inspect the "64K" section on the left side; this is how the entire screen appears to the naked eye! Also notice I have included CBM/PET font screenshots depicting the character differences. Commodore engineers switched to a 4x8 font instead of the 8x8 because of television screens for the home computer market weren't clear enough. I have an original 1702 that has not been repaired (to my knowledge) or "re-capped" and the image is better than the LCD for both fonts, but more difficult to photograph. If only Commodore had this, we never would have had that 4x8 pixel-doubled character set!
Compare the checkerboard character, as well as the "clubs" of cards. I can't describe just how amazingly clear these are on a 1702, which is supposed to be a standard TV tube and not a monitor-class CRT. The camera is having trouble resolving the detail, even on an LCD -- the PET/VIC checkerboard character is very well defined on all screens to the naked eye. The 8x8 charset on a standard C64 with a 1702, the checkerboard character is entirely a grey-tone blur of colour-blended pixels.
ClearVideo64.C fits in the RFM metal box's location. This has all features as the ClearVideo128.C which are improved over the original models with a higher quality video chip. The ".C" versions all provide isolated Composite output, as well as S-Video signals like the original models. Previously, you would need the capacitor to convert to Composite, losing S-Video mode. Now you can have two screens if you want, so you can compare the video quality! The S-Video signals have an emulator-clear video quality with sharp pixels, making the old 1702, or any old CRT, look perfect like a real monitor. Due to colour-blending used in many C64 games, you will see pixel-perfect graphics without the blending in this mode. In Composite, the pixels are nearly as perfect but you will also enjoy the colour-blending used in many games. And this Composite mode is still clearer than any other C64 video device in S-Video!
Made from HIGH QUALITY components, four adjustments, perfect 75.0-ohm outputs and a fancy Video IC to provide the cleanest signal possible while still keeping it retro! Not every VIC-II chip was made equal, as some are naturally clearer than others. This professionally-built circuit will enable you to have the cleanest signal from your VIC-II chip, and cross-adjust FOUR WAYS to help completely remove existing screen artifacts on screens! Now you can see sharp corners to every pixel, on just about any regular television CRT, without color loss, blurring, horizontal ghosting or video bar overlaps. You will instead see gaps produced by the VIC-II, which you can blend away with iterative adjustments (less than 5 minutes!) without blurring pixels. LCD with this is almost too crisp, and gives you a better look at how the VIC-II composes its signals.
THESE BOARDS ARE ALWAYS FLUSH-TRIMMED on the through-hole components (socket, pots, headers, resistors and inductor) before soldering. They are also squeaky-clean and triple-inspected and individually tested for quality control.
