This is a portable, pocket sized tester for shielded or unshielded Cat5/6 cables, including etherCON. It will cycle through all eight conductors for continuity as well as the shield if applicable. The order of the cycle will also point out any crossover.

I found that none of the Cat5/6 cable testers on the market were compatible with etherCON connectors, which is very common in modern A/V systems. This is a solution that doesn't require you to disassemble the connector and remove the shell to test. The SHOP CAT will cycle through each conductor and light the LED on the receive side to diagnose broken connection and/or any mismatched conductors. Refer to the video below to see it in action!

The SHOP CAT is perfect for sanity checks on mission critical Cat5/6 runs, and at just about 3" long, it's small enough to keep in your pocket as you work. They've been thoroughly tested and recommended by some great audio professionals in the field.
