amazing product

I just installed this unit in my wife Volvo V50 from 2005 and everything was really easy to install. I few things where different from the manual. For removing the main board I had to bend some iron clips. and for routing the microphone cable I needed to remove an additional part below the steering wheel.
But never the less that all was easy and the quality is good.

If I needed to make one suggestion this would a small extension cord for the microphone, this way If I ever need to remove the radio again, this would save me a lot of work.

Works as advertised

I ordered this for my 2005 Volvo s40 with single CD and no amplifier. The disassembly was easier than expected, needing to remove just 2 screws to access the inside of the unit. 4 more screws hold the CD unit inside.

The supplied flat cables, however, were not sufficient to reach the connectors. I used one of the supplied cables to reach the mainboard, and had to reuse the existing cable to connect the CD unit with the Bluetooth board because the supplied cable was too short. I had to remove the cable and flip it to be able to connect Bluetooth module with the CD unit.

Overall not a complicated installation. Took about an hour.

Great product!

Took about 2 week to ship to Holland. Install is not difficult at all. My mainboard is at the side not on the top so i have to use the original cable to connect to the module. Very happy with the product. Owner always there to help for any questions.

The best for BT audio & handsfree Volvo P1 models

Purchased this for my son's C30 (2008 model with the facelifted center console). Installation was relatively straightforward using the instructions and videos linked by Justas. Removal of the radio with the facelifted center console is a bit more of a hassle since a lot of parts have to be moved / removed, but once the radio was out the rest went smoothly. Routing of the microphone wire was probably the part which took the longest and involved the most swearing.

Once installed, audio quality is great for streaming audio, the microphone - and the handsfree calling quality in general - is also really good. I have installed a number of handsfree kits in various cars over the years, and this is definitely one of the best microphones I have tried on an non-factory solution.

Very happy customer - this really is a fantastic solution for Volvo P1 models. Hope that the steering wheel control module surfaces at some point :-)

Very happy with this kit, install went very well, unit works great with Spotify on a google pixel 8 in a V50. Shipping took longer than I thought it would but the package showed up in great shape. Install can be tricky, but works like a charm

My C30 has an aux port, but this works so much better than everything I tried. A FM transmitter, Bluetooth dongle, and aux cable to my phone. You can change the name of the device so it looks like a factory option! Installation is not that hard, but I have a rare radio, so a small tweak was needed. Besides that tweak, it was really easy, and if you have any questions, the seller takes his time to help you. Thanks for the OEM-looking Bluetooth fix!

Great Stuff!

After almost 70 Cars in my life i bought an 2005 Volvo V 50. Perfect condition and a wonderful car. Base performance Radio System. No bluetooth, no aux, lousy sound. But what i did not know was the big volvo problem in pimping up the audio system inkluding a good working bluetooth connection to play my spotify stuff in the car. The pre owner used a Radio Transmitter...ok, but limited in sound quality and also with an reduced maximum loudness.

First i changed the 4 speakers in the four doors from base Performance Speakers (NO tweeters) to used High Performance speakers (now WITH the tweeters...also original High performance) Bought used at Ebay for EUR 200 in total. Plus i put some Alubutyl and Armaflex in the doors. Quality differenz is huge...but still no bluetooth.

Until today. Time from order to delivery in Germany only 1 Week. Installation was in knowing the Video and the paper Instruction quite easy. But do not rush, take your time and check also the different screws at the Radio unit.

Today i installed it all together and i am very happy at the end.

Maybe i will add up the System with an additional amplifer. There are some available from Jayks with plug and play Adapters for the Volvo V 50 and other Volvos....

game changer for older volvos

I'm using the bluetooth module for a while now. I absolutely love it. It connects perfectly, sounds great and is really easy to install. Absolute must have for anyone owning a old volvo without bluetooth!
Shipping was also pretty quick. From the order to the product arriving here in germany it only took about 2 weeks.
Communication was great aswell. I had a question about the product an Justas replied within a few hours.

Nice solution

Nice solution for my 2006 v50 with premium audio and 6cd player. I took the version with microphone and sadly not the steering wheel control. I tried contacting the developer multiple times on multiple platforms but there was no response, therefore I sadly had to buy it without the steering wheel control.

Installation took me 30 minutes in total, works like a charm.

Great product!

So many years without any aux / bluetooth connectivity, and now solved! Works exactly like advertised!

From product point of view installation couldn't be much simpler, just two flat cables and one antenna cable, even two-sided tapes were pre-attached. From Volvo point of view it's a pain in the butt, as getting to that flat cable means disassembling half of the car interior... But that's not really this product's fault. There are good tutorials in youtube though both for disassembling the waterfall panel and for dissassembling the CD player / media device, and can be done by anyone, when you take your time and be careful. A plastic upholstery removal set is highly recommended.

Beautiful piece of kit

I couldn't wait to give this a try, and it meets every expectation, it works like an absolute charm! The requested Bluetooth name is set, and the sound quality is just as good as a CD.

I have a 2004 V50 without CD changer, and I'd pretty much given up and settled on an FM transmitter with a few CDs, until someone mentioned this little module... It's a beautiful piece of (reverse) engineering, and I thank you greatly for the effort.

Shipping took about two weeks to the Netherlands, but it got here safe and sound. The instructions are good enough to convey the basic concept, but my radio has a completely different layout than in the pictures, so I had to improvise here and there. If (!) you have a CD-P1 radio with the motherboard on the side and not at the bottom, I recommend reusing the original brown flex cable between the disc reader and the module, since the included cables are a bit too short for this particular unit.

The only thing that would make this absolutely perfect is steering wheel control, which seems to be perpetually out of stock. I sent multiple inquires about future availability, but sadly I have not received any reply at all. With that in mind, I've made a start building my own interface for this, any progress will be shared on the Need for Swede discord.

Great product! 100% recommend

Installation is fairly easy, took less than 2 hours. Shipping was super fast and seller was really helpful and nice.
Quality is great and keeps the OEM look which is awesome. For it to work it needs for a cd to be playing, would recommend burning a cd with silence if you dont want music blasting the moment you turn on your car.

5 lat tak na prawdę szukałem czegoś żeby nie słuchać tylko paru utworów na płycie CD bo moje radio nie miało AUX ani nie otwierało płyt mp3 no i w końcu znalazłem moduł bluetooth który jestem bardzo ale to bardzo zadowolony z niego bo mogę puszczać utwory z telefonu na radio w dodatku tak czysto i wyraźnie niż na płycie CD a bass jest tak mocny że aż szyby mi latają w samochodzie. Bardzo Polecam ten moduł i mogę nawet podziękować wykonawcy tego modułu BT . :) :) :)

Only option if you have no standard aux in your volvo

Shipping to germany was done in round about one week. Installation is doable even for untrained ones. The documentation could be a bit more detailed, but is okay. I thought id get problems with the antenna during installing the radio back in the car, but all was fine.
Personalized BT Name is correct.
The audio quality is super, just like you are listening to a CD.
So yeah thats all, it is all of its money worth.

A perfect solution for a problem that bugged me for 14 years

I love my C30, but I always hated the fact that it's impossible to upgrade the basic radio and that it has no aux or Bluetooth. Today I installed Justas' solution in the car. It took about 2 hours total and it works perfectly. This device is absolutely genius and I'm so happy I stumbled upon it after having given up on this for a long time.
Justas shipped quickly and also answered some questions about it. I really hope the steering wheel upgrade will become available as standalone.

I was a bit sceptical in the beginning but that was all gone when i inserted an old disc an the bluetooth worked beautifully. It's amazing how you came up with this but it does exactly as advertised.

Shipping was also surpringingly quickly from Lithuania to Belgium. Received it a week later, which is quicker than expected!

Took me about 3h to install it, including disassembly and reinstallation + the microphone. Best investment i've done to my C30. So happy with it! The only downside is that it doesn't automatically pause the music when the car turns off but i don't think that's even a possibility so it's a very good choice. 100% recommend. Thanks mate, you helped me a ton!

Need to have

This is great. I ordered about 3 months ago (can’t recall the exact delivery time, but it was quick) but had been putting off installing it for a while, but I wish I’d made time for it earlier.

Awesome sound quality, deep but clear with crisp highs, excellent mic (other side only noticed because she knew I was installing it and probably wanted to test it).

Installation is relatively straightforward, thanks to the detailed instructions.

Unrelated to the product: I had some difficulty removing the stereo unit from the dashboard, it was much harder than the one shown in the video. Pushing up the dashboard a bit seemed to help, and it may take quite a bit of force to pull out the unit.

The product is a good update to the factory system. It has the expected sound, I haven't tried the handsfree yet but I think it will work as expected.

Sounds as good as a CD!

This module works great! This is the only way to get Bluetooth functionality in my 2005 volvo s40, with quality that sounds as good as a CD! I was using an FM transmitter before, but the staticky noise was so obnoxious. It's great that someone is still making these, even in 2023!

Amazing product

Amazing product, good quality, fast shipping, works perfectly. Instalation was easy for me, but may be a little bit tricky for some less handy and“technic” people, but is managable and the video tutorial is clear, even though I had a different motherboard and insides of the CD player (6CD), not 1CD on the video, it is easy to figure it out. Best decision for my V50 ever

Installation was a little tricky because my radio was quite different than the one in the video. My radio had the motherboard mounted on the side, not the top. Had to figure out where to connect the bluetooth module, finally I looped it between the existing cable from the CD unit and the motherboard. Then glued the bluetooth module to the side of the cd unit.

Technically everything worked absolutely well, great sound and good handsfree communication. Have the feeling the sound is even better than the CD.

The only thing I regret is that I have not bought the part much earlier!

Great solution for Volvo Cars

I waited a really long time for these to come back into stock. It appears to be a newer design different than the one in the video. The install is about 98% the same though, just figuring out where to mount the new antenna. Routed the mic to the top of the A pillar through the dash, and have no issue with people hearing me on hands free.
Comes with everything you need except a CD.
Sound quality is great, only time I remember is when the CD restarts there is a moment of sound change.
Can't wait for the steering wheel control to change song.

Best bluetooth solution for a C70

Being in the situation many others are, with a basic 1CD player with no Aux input in my Volvo, this was a godsend.
Having tried FM radio transmitters for bluetooth audio, this is just a step above. The sound quality is brilliant, feeding into the CD system.
Took about 3 hours from start to finish, which included about 30mins trying to route the microphone cable behind the dash.
Documentation is great for install of the module, with the video showing all you need to know. Perhaps more information about where specifically the microphone cable could be routed, as there are many possibilities where to go.
Brilliant communication from the creator, and a great item. Finally we can enjoy our music and hands-free in our car!

Pairing is super fast, sound quality is outstanding (support aptx), and the phone perfectly manages changing between calls and music if you already have bluetooth for calls only.

El envío a España parece ser que se retraso un poco mas de lo normal, al rededor de 3 semanas me tardo en llegar, realmente era lo que esperaba que tardase. Perfectly economic solution

Great device for the price. Especially for a Volvo. It took me about 20min to install it and play music through it. Instructions would be a great add on but that's what YouTube is for. Now as far as the the different options of the device. I opted for the one with a mic connection. Not what mic can I use. Idk more info should be given.

I am exited! Very cool solution

My Volvo V50 has a very basic equiped CD Radio, there was no other solution than this to find.
Even the assembly video shows another CD player than mine, it was easy to plug in comparable to video on the website.
It was worth to wait some days for the shipping, bluetooth connection is realy very fast and reliable.

Worked perfectly!

So I ordered the Bluetooth receiver for a Volvo V50 from 2004 without the mode button.

My CD unit was way more basic than the one in the tutorial and didn't look too much alike. Still easy to figure out which one needed to tap in to install the receiver.

THE final Bleutooth Problem Solver for P1 V50's

Like many wrote before, I explored a lot of different options to enhance the basic radio-cd in my volvo V50 Sport I with BT music streaming.
With the help of this module and two different "how to" video's on YT, I finally solved this quest in a couple of hours.
Without great technical skills, just "monkey sees, monkey does" is enough.
Many thanks to this technician who provided me with a clean and affordable high quality solution.

This is the best solution without changing radio

Really proud that Justas is saving the whole P1 industry AND he is Lithuanian! Šaunu!
It is less expensive than buying a new radio, however more expensive than my Roidmi 3S, though the sound quality is noticeably a lot better. I didn't notice how much high frequencies and clarity I was missing with my FM transmitter.
Installation was not as easy as I was expecting. You need to remove the whole floating panel and the radio, in my case the radio was stuck and it needed a lot of force to get out. The documentation and video was good enough to understand how to do everything, but as other people mentioned, there are some outdated parts that question you if you have all the needed parts or you are doing that correctly.
You need a playing CD in order for Bluetooth to work, so I am recommending you generate a blank mp3 (Audacity -> Generate -> Silence -> 79 mins) and burn it into a CD. In this way, every time you press CD nothing starts playing until the Bluetooth device is connected.
One thing that is a bit annoying to me is that every time my android phone connects to the Bluetooth module a notification pops up that aptX is supported, I will search how to disable that.
Overall, this is a great way to get Bluetooth in P1 Volvos without AUX and MODE things. I have a 2006 Volvo V50 2.0D without those two things and now having Bluetooth with great quality is amazing.

2005 Volvo V50 Bluetooth

I researched many options to get Bluetooth audio into my V50 and this ended up being the cleanest, simplest option. Sound quality is outstanding. Couldn’t be happier. Shipping to the US was only about 3 weeks.

Muy buen producto la conexión es bastante buena con exelente calidad de sonido. solo tuve una pequeña duda por qué mi reproductor cd es un poco diferente al traer la placa de circuitos por un costado y no sobre el reproductor como en el vídeo. pero solo con lograr conectar la lengüeta de señal de la misma manera el resultado es el mismo, lo único que me falta es los controles al volante pero el módulo viene con el puerto para hacer el upgrade y conectarlo el cual solo espero la publicación para hacer el pedido y poder disfrutar mi Volvo s40 t5 aún más. Works flawlessly

V50 T5 2006. Works like a charm. Good audio quality and fast connection to the device. Easy installation, though there was no antenna on my chipset like the one in the videos and pictures but I figured it wasn't necessary and it doesn't seem so either but it would be nice to know if this was intended or not.

Great product

The product was easy to build in the cd unit, works responsive and exactly as advertised. Any questions I had regarding the unit were reacted to in a timely fashion and we’re answered accurately and understandable way. I would recommend this unit to anyone that is looking for a Bluetooth connection in their Volvo V50.

Note to the creator, well done on the chipset, I was looking for easy to use bluetooth in my car for a while. I even bought a Bluepower BLP-990A which was very bad by the way.

Really nice product! Works like a charm.

Works really well. Fast Bluetooth pairing when starting car. Sound is amazing. Documentation was different and didn’t match my module though. However, install seemed to be easier for this one (Volvo S40 2004 Single CD High Performance). Absolutely recommended, since this seems to be the only Bluetooth audio + hands free solution on the market.

Great retro fit for Volvo V50s with missing aux and bluetoot

Wonderful product, very well documented and easy to install with the help of the guides.

Suggested points of improvement:
Gather all links to documentation in one place.
- Video to show how to remove car stereo
- Video to show installation of BT Module
- Docs to show installation of BT module
- Docs to show installation of Hands-free addon
- Docs to show installation of steering wheel button integration.

Currently links to the above are scattered and a link list would be beneficial.

Also, instructions on how the BT pairing process will work, how many simultaneous connections are supported and how to switch audio source would be good.

(I figured out that you can connect at least two and swap sound source simply by pausing the current playing device and start sound on the second device).

I recommend turning off NEWS/Information service on radio since that forces sound away from BT module which is cumbersome if in a call.

You have made someone SO Very Happy!!!

It took a while (18 days from Lithuania to The Nederlands) to arrive but this wasn't sellers fault. After ordering, he sent the module within 48 hours.

In less than 60 minutes I took the CD-player out of the dashboard, open de CD-player and install the module and place everything back into the car! Easy peasy! Had some small problems with connecting to my android phone. I didn't know you need to play a CD to make a connection by Bluetooth with your phone.
But it works like a charm!! Thank you so very much! Now I can play my own music with the best quality!

This module gives you the best and cheapest solution to these Volvo car models! They do not have the possibility for Bluetooth modules or it is very complicated and very expensive..

Great invention

I am glad that this module exists. It was painful not to even have an auxiliary output in my S40, 2006 model... Shipment: 2 weeks to Finland. Installation (newbie): About 3 hours (dismounting the radio, place the module, and remounting). Every step was quite easy. Great quality, design and function. Despite 2008+ (post-facelift) C30's being a pig to get to the radio, the actual install of the Bluetooth module was incredibly easy. Everything works seamlessly with continued use for calls on a separate Bluetooth channel. Happy days.

great product, solution and quality sound

Very good sound quality, gives solution to these Volvo car models that do not have the possibility or it is very complicated. CD sound quality, good quality of the microphone in calls.

In my case, the CD unit that mounted the car was older than the tutorial and the parts of the motherboard were completely different, having a different flex cable and with the right shape, when trying to install the BT module using the flex cable that goes to the plate of the CD unit itself this was split. Thanks to the fact that two units of cable were included in the order I was able to finish the installation, although the cable was not long enough. It does not affect the final result but it is not fixed with the double-sided tape, a longer cable would be appreciated.

The best bluetooth for volvo, if you want to save stock look of your waterfall, this one is the way to go.
Installation took me like 30 mins in my c30. This guy saved my life, im not an audiophile but sound quality from bt/fm audio transmitter was too poor for me and this bt module has the same quality as CD.
If you are still considering buying it, dont waste time and buy it without a flick. You wont regret it :)

A réception du premier module le résultat n'était bon (erreur de ma part au montage ou du produit) j'ai pu prendre très facilement contact avec le vendeur qui m'a de suite proposé l'envoie d'un nouveau module (avec retour du premier bien évidemment). À réception du second il m'a assisté par message pour être sûr du montage et maintenant tout fonctionne parfaitement 👌. (j'ai même eu la surprise de recevoir un micro en plus pour compenser les frais de renvoie du premier colis) bref un vendeur pro très sympa et du matos qui fonctionne ! 👍

Best option to add BT on P1 Volvos

Installed today. Installation was quite straight forward. Instruction video was a great help. I made an extension for microphone, so I don't need to dismount CD unit again when microphones are available. Little bit tight spaces to fit if both connectors for handsfree and steering wheel controls are in use. Great product and design, instructions and documentation needs light updating.

Great value and it just works!

Great product for great value!

Other solutions are very costly (+$300) and mostly require to have a specific type of audio system which can be difficult to determine if you have or not. Especially if you have an early model. Also, they have questionable audio quality at best.

This system hijacks the cd-drive's audio signal giving you proper cd quality audio and works with ANY model audio system present as they all use the same pin-out on the ribbon cable that connects the cd-drive to the rest of the system.

The little pcb stack is super easy to install. Just be careful not to break the provided ribbon cables.

All in all really good value and really good build quality! I recommend this to anyone wanting to install bluetooth into their P1 volvo!!

Can't wait till the mic cable and steering wheel control harness comes out.

Tip: If you're using bluetooth exclusively and don't like the cd audio coming through before your bluetooth device connects, burn an audio cd with 1 track on it that's just inaudible grey noise. Insert it to your cd drive and no more problems with difference in volume between cd and bluetooth device.

Amazing !

Delivery was fast and I got the module. Thanks to the video, mounting it really was a piece of cake. No great skills are required.
I confess I had only watched the video and not read the documentation and this is why I didn't know that you must have a CD playing for the module to be detected. So I asked Justas (who is the designer and seller) who answered very kindly within less than an hour and everything went fine then. The audio quality is great and I am very happy to listen to my music easily again. Moreover, I'm looking forward to trying the addons. It should be great too. Give the module a try and I believe you won't be disappointed ;)

This chip changed my life !

Product works great, instalation is very easy although the flex from CDrom isnt as flexible and you need to "flex" a little with the cables to fit them to the mainboard.

Im hoping to get the stearing wheel remote when it will be available. Thanks for engeneering this, it saved me a lot $ and also my ears on listerning to radio bt adapters :)

Totally worth it!

I am probably one the non- Premium- Sound owners and I tryed several FM transmitters recommended by all the reviews and sellers etc, but this little thingy, it will change the game.
Sound is far more superior and I don`t have to tweak HU to get some sound out of it ( although I have replaced all speakers and amplified them)

Yes, it does not have hands free and track control YET, but I am more than sure that if we will support this crazy Lithuanian guy, who found a solution to our problems, we have just days to encounter having it.

I had some problems and he gave me answers in the middle of night.

For me, it is a total win and 100% recommend

Super!!!!

It works very well !!! The new version is already loud !!! Bluetooth works at 4m from the car !!! I had a bit of a problem with connecting the flat cable because I have it connected to a 90 degree angle of the main board and the cd driver.
Everything works on the first connection !!! Otherwise very satisfied !!!

This is a very good solution.

Finally I can listen to good quality music from mp3. The module is easy to install. Very detailed instructional video. Everything worked immediately and without any problems. There are no additional components in the car other than the module in the factory radio. Even the small disadvantage that the cd drive must work at the same time in no way diminishes my joy. Well done.

Cool product

I love my new bluetooth device in my volvo XC90.
The only problem i had was that the pictures did not match but the flex cable was indeed the same.
Shipping took long verry long and when i tried to contact the seller true tindie i was faceing problems and errors i could not send any message to seller.

At the end it was deliverd and workes perfect

Awesome product which delivery expectations

Saw youtube on searching for Vovlo v50 Bluetooth integration and was amazed by the simplicity and clever idea. Ordered and goods came very decently packed and on decent shipping time.

Assembly was 1 to 1 with youtube! Very simple!
The performance and quality were awesome! No arguments there it brought my V50 back to life!

The only downside is the preamp of the device is low where I had to increase volume to max to listen to my taste of volume. The problem is when I set the volume too high the next time I turn the car ON I get full volumed CD playing immediately before switching to Bluetooth causing madness! I think the author wanted to deliver the device at a low cost. But I would pay a few extra to have a bit high volume preamp to avoid this problem.

Overall I would not hesitate to recommend the module to any who faced my problem.

Great device

Just installed the Bluetooth device and it’s working perfectly you just need to have a cd in all the time but that’s not annoying for me at least. I have only used it one day so I can’t say if it will work like this forever but I recommend this because for the Volvo I have it’s impossible to find a device that work especially like this for under 150$
