What is it?

A simple stand to support your scanning electron microscope sample stub while you're preparing the sample on the stub, carrying the sample to the SEM, or storing the stub on a shelf or in a drawer.

Here I'm offering them in a pack of five for your convenience. With these you'll be able to have several samples on deck and unconstrained to a multi-holder. Plus, they make for a much more attractive display than poking the stub into foam.

Each stub is mSLA 3D printed from a soy-based photopolymer resin. The result is a smooth matte black with slight translucence. It is easy to hold and handsome to look at. If you order more than 3 or more 5-packs, I'd be glad to make them in any available color that you'd like! There are many awesome colors to choose from so please feel free to reach out.

Note: This stand is not conductive, and so must be sputter coated in a conductive material to be used in the scanning electron microscope

Why did you make it?

My office, lab, and scanning electron microscope are all in different rooms, so I needed a better way to carry and rest my sample stub throughout the process. Sometimes the lab benches are dirty too, so this way I can be sure my sample will not roll into any contamination.

What makes it special?

There are simply no attractive, elegant SEM stub holders out there, and researchers deserve to have nice things too! It's made from bio-based materials and works gloriously.
