The ROM expansion board using an EPROM chip for program/data storage. It divides the storage space into multiple 16K blocks, providing you a stable and fast way to accessing your program/data.

PAL-1 ROM

The ROM expansion kit shipped with a pre-programmed 32K EPROM chip, the PAL-1 ROM, for your turnkey experience. The PAL-1 ROM programmed by Jim McClanahan (W4JBM), including Microsoft BASIC, FORTH, VTL-02, and the most in-demand Apple 1 Integer BASIC which we think it has never appeared on KIM-1 clone. PAL-1 ROM also includes eWoz monitor and PBUG(PAL-1 Debugger) monitor. Finally, for convenience, you will get a memory test program in ROM.

What is included

Another essential for the PAL-1

This kit provides a way of quickly using some key software - such as BASIC - without the hassle of loading from tape or terminal. An EPROM populated with software is included, and if you have a cheap EPROM programmer you can make your own EPROMS. It’s great way to learn about state-of-the-art 8bit computers, circa 1979 ;-)
