Read More…It is a stand-alone hardware system with 7x6cm PCB size or in short - it is a standalone FPGA ambilight-like clone.
You can simply add it to your TV/computer monitor for example. Everything you need is to put a LED strip with WS2811 LEDs at the back of your TV and plug it into the AmbiController hardware. Next you have to plug in a HDMI or analog signal to it and connect a 5V power source. That's it... Its standalone and works without any other user interaction.
It is very fast, the colours are high dynamic generated. The color generation does also recognize black borders at the upper/lower or the left/right edges and uses the active picture fields.
The hardware can be controlled and configured via USB. There are all tools included in a software pack on GitHub you need to configure the device.
Have a look at my Youtube channel for some demonstration video list.
I have started this project about 4 years ago. I just wanted to have an ambilight system attached to my old CRT TV. Over the years the system is much more than just a simple technology clone for me and I want to share my work with other interested people.
You do not need more than the device to use it. No PC, no embedded System, no other Hardware except of the LED strip and the power supply is required to use the device. And It still need less than 2 Watt (PCB only with ambilight processing is enabled). It has some power saving features and automatically recognize incoming video signal.
You only get the printed circuit board, a list of parts you have to order and an instruction manual how to assemble your own AmbiController.
There are no electronic parts contained in the package. You have to order them by yourself. In case you want to connect your HDMI device to the AmviController you need additional HDMI converter and splitter hardware.
Please have a look at the options you can also order.
