I don't know much about this board and have not actually used it. I verified that it works using steps described in "Debugging in e2studio" from the User Manual and steps from Quick Start guide to be used with the GUI demo utility. RL78 MCU is flashed with demo firmware.

It is possible to reprogram RL78 MCU using onboard programmer. To use onboard programmer jumpers need to be moved that disables MCU connection to USB UART interface. This is described in section "Configuration Jumpers" in User Manual. There is an unpopulated debug header to be used with compatible programmer.

Note that installing GNURL78 v12.01 Windows Toolchain included in DVD (or more recent version from web page) requires registration in llvm-gcc-renesas.com website. Use the legacy activation code from your user profile to activate tool chain installer. It is not possible to install tool chain without activation code.

On board there are two main ics:

• R5F104LE 64-pin LQFP RL78/G14 16 bit MCU
• D78F0730 30-pin SSOP microcontroller that provides USB connectivity

Original DVDs and micro USB cable are included. Sold as is.
