Usage

The user interface rests on the backside of the device. There are only three interface elements. One On/Off switch, one button to cycle through all 15 available pictures as well as one potentiometer to control the brightness of the LEDs. The first 14 pictures are factory programmed static and dynamic designs. If you want to get creative you can use the USB -> UART -> MCU interface and design the 15th picture yourself. This picture can be saved in the EEPROM memory of the MCU to persist through power cycles.

Power

The tree is either powered by the USB C connector or by the battery integrated into the stand. The battery is automatically charged while the USB cable is plugged in. Charge in progress and end of charge is indicated by two LEDs on the backside of the device.

Interface

If you want to customize your experience with the tree a UART interface is implemented on board. For details on the protocol and further technical documentation see here. You can use this interface for controlling the currently shown picture, program your own picture or simply be able to turn the device off remotely by connecting it to a network device.

NOTE: There is no USB-C cable supplied with the device. We believe by now everybody has one at home and we don't want to further encourage electronics waste.
