I made this so I could have better light quality than the RGB LEDs provide, especially at home. The amber is particularly nice for day-to-day, and the UV adds something special for parties. I used WS2811 protocol so it would be easy for anyone to control.

It has a standard WS2811 connector in. There are pads for an out connector, but it is not populated - it needs a lot of power, so chaining them from a standard connector is not a great idea. It is painfully bright; do not look at the UV directly if it is powered at more than 5 or 6 of 255. It also gets pretty hot when running...the LED vendor claims 18W, but specifications work out to more like 6 to 8W. If you put it in a case, make sure to allow enough ventilation, or it will burn out. It comes assembled as shown in the photo, with a heat sink that is not shown. This version is updated with an aluminum PCBA so that it can be run in open air without a heat sink. If inside something where airflow is restricted, you must attach it to something (metal, plastic with good heat conductivity, etc.) to ensure long life.

For an interesting party effect, set the RGBA channels to a fixed color and pulse the UV.

Works great

I bought this out of curiosity to play with one of these modules, and ended up using it with Pixelblaze in a Halloween Jack-O-Lantern. It worked great! Strobing the UV does add a cool effect to most colors, as mentioned. It's very bright.

I will say that something about this wavelength is a little different than fluorescent UV tubes; It seems a little more "light blue" and visible, but that's not related to this module, it's true of most UV LEDs I've seen.

I appreciate the thoughtful approach to heat dissipation.
