This interfaces to your Arduino or other MCU using the standard WS2811/WS2812 LED protocol (in and out, 100% compliant to WS2811 signaling protocol) and lets you control three propane or air solenoid valves. It will also work with other inductive loads like small unidirectional DC motors. Supported current limit is 3A. It also has support for individual spark gap igniters for each channel - these will be released soon on this same shop.

I made this to make building NFPA 160 propane art easier. It has all the design considerations a full professional design would have - ESD considerations, inductive spike clamping, and robust component selection. In addition, commonly available connectors are used so that field connections under difficult conditions are easy to make. It is designed to fit a commonly available case, a CNC version of this case with holes for the connectors and buttons will be available soon with labels and programming information right on the device.

With this design, you can reduce the current draw of your art project to run longer from a portable power supply. Typical power consumption is about 5% vs. an ordinary relay controlled device, depending on the exact solenoids used and the art programming. Higher efficiencies are achievable with careful coding. This lets you run from a large battery for a week instead of only one or two nights.
