Read More…LILLA is a 16bit/44.1KHz polyphonic, multitimbral and multi-midi audio sampler based on Teensy 4.1 microcontroller.
LILLA plays imported audio files, recorded audio, and live audio stream, combining sounds with layering, applying various playing mode, adding ADSR envelope, changing length and pitch, and using digital effects (24dB/oct LPF, per-voice VCF+LFOs, stereo delay).
Audio files (raw format, 16bit 44.1KHz mono files) can be imported using a micro-SD card (not included) accessible via the USB plug, also used for powering the unit. The stereo analog input can be used for sampling (audio recording) and live sampling; audio source can be a line-level audio output or a dynamic stereo microphone. Recorded files can be exported to the micro SD card (raw format).
LILLA internally stores Sound setups (audio file name, ADSR and VCF+LFO parameters, start/end points, play mode etc.) and Patches (a group of Sounds distributed among midi channels and mapped on midi notes) created by the user, and also allows to import/export them from/to the micro-SD card.

Specifications
LILLA dashboard includes 26 encoders, 10 pushbuttons, line-in stereo analog audio, line-out stereo analog audio, monitor (out) stereo analog audio, midi in, midi thru, and a 3.2" color display. Construction is based on n.2 4-layers PCBs; Processor: ARM Cortex-M7 @600MHz on Teensy 4.1; Audio memory: 64MB permanent memory (flash memory) + 16MB PSRAM volatile memory for Live Sampling. Polyphony: up to 16 voices. Power supply: 5V DC (USB type B plug). Case is made of aluminum with authentic wenge side closures.
Production
LILLA is designed, tested, and assembled in a small artisan workshop in north-east Italy; I don't work on order, each month only few pieces can be built and exposed on this shop.

LILLA has been developed from scratch, starting from a small circuit in 2018, equipped with Teensy 3.6 board.
A first "concept" device was presented at Torino "Soundmit", 2019 edition.
This "naked" LILLA realized in 2020 and equipped with Teensy 4.1 was reproduced in few pieces.
