What is it?

This allows connecting your GameBoy Advance to a WiFi network using the ESP8266, enabling you to wirelessly load multiboot-compatible games. It also allows a homebrew developer to make an internet-connected game!

Note, this won't give an internet connection to existing games, the game has to be designed to communicate with the adapter.

Why did you make it?

For GBAJam2021 I wanted to make the first MMO for the GameBoy Advance. During development I used a Raspberry Pi, but that setup is limited to being tethered to wires still. This design allows a completely wireless internet connection.

What makes it special?

While I'm not the first to connect an ESP8266/ESP32 to the GameBoy Advance, I believe this is the first time such an adapter is being sold.

Note While the board is designed to allow a male GBA connector to be soldered in, it is not populated by default. You can either use a regular GBC link cable on the PCB connector to connect to the board, or solder the GBA connector from a GBA-GC link cable (~$12USD on eBay). If you would like me to solder one for you it will cost an additional $20.
