A relatively simple soldering kit with all through-hole components. There are 12 orange LEDs arranged around the eyes of the pumpkin, with a piezo speaker, an LDR light sensor and a pushbutton to change mode. The other components are mounted on the rear of the board.

It uses a Microchip 8-pin PIC12F1840 microcontroller to charlieplex the LEDs and to generate a manic laugh sound effect when triggered.

Different modes alter whether it is triggered by an increase in light level (someone walks into a room and turns on the light) or a decrease in light level (someone turns the lights off). Random patterns on the LEDs accompany a sampled spooky laughing sound.

The kit requires a 9V PP3 battery (not included).
