This is a soldering kit for the starters to learn soldering. After 1~2 hours soldering and assembly, and easy steps to set the Wifi name/password with a phone, you will get:

A real-time clock, it will get the world real-time from the Network timing protocol, you can set your local time zone easily
An Alarm clock, with loud noise
An Online world weather forecaster, about the local temperature/weather, you can easily change/alter your address/cities without any re-programming

To reduce the soldering difficulty, all the SMD parts have been soldered, the users can only solder the THT parts, and then set the Wifi network with a phone, and finally turn on the power to enjoy the success.

Pls note this is a soldering kit with separated components, you will need to solder/ assembly/ program by yourself.

Great kit - good quality + easy to assemble.

A very neat little kit. Works perfectly. I feel like his little gizmo can do more.. I would be interested if I could reflash it to get more info (headlines, stock etc.) on the screen

More challenging to build than it should be...

This looks cool, but I still don't have it working yet. There are a couple of things to watch for. There is not part outline for the switches. They go on the side with the buzzer (which is obvious if you look at the picture). Unfortunately, I didn't look at the picture and for some reason thought they should be on the back. I cut them off, cleared the holes, and used some other switches I had as replacements. There also was an 8 pin header and there are 8 pins for the display. I dutifully soldered it in place assuming there must be a socket on the display. If I had opened the bag with the display, I would have known that the display had a pre-installed 8-pin header. So I cut the plastic holding the pins and pulled them off one by one. I put some insulating tape where the display goes to avoid contact and then soldered the display in place. At this point, the screen goes white when I turn it on, but nothing else happens. It is difficult to troubleshot because once the display is mounted there is about half the board you can't really get to and inspect. I will probably try reflashing it next to see if the processor is going, but I have to admit I'm just going to set it to the side for a bit for now. This is a really cool idea and I've been building for a long time. I rarely have one that is a dud and I suspect the problem is me, not the design. But the instructions could definitely use improvement and having some way to test before permanently mounting the display would have been useful. Hopefully all of that saves someone else some hassle as they build one.
