What is it?

EdgeX AI Dev Kit is a unique development platform for applications requiring visual or audio data processing and feature extraction combined with long-range radio connectivity. It is built around MatchX MX1941 AI System on Module which combines Kendryte K210 dual-core RISC-V processor and Semtech SX1261 LoRa transceiver.

Why did you make it?

EdgeX is perfectly suited for applications requiring edge computing of visual or other types of data with low energy consumption. Highly processed information can be then transferred through a low power, low data rate radio channel thanks to embedded LPWAN transceiver.

What makes it special?

The unique combination of AI module + camera + LoRaWAN + microphone offers new opportunities for the expansion of IoT applications and creates new possibilities in the LPWAN world. For example, a camera installed on a window with an AI module can use deep learning algorithms for detecting free parking spaces in close proximity to your house. The AI module carries out all the computational processes enabling the edge processing of video material. The results are converted into “simple data” that can be sent through the LoRa network energy efficiently over long distances. This is how all the magic happens!

As it's shown in the gallery, EdgeX consists of SoM (System on Module), LSD screen and development board. The product comes fully assembled, PLUG & PLAY. The last graphic shows the MatchX ecosystem: Face Recognition is carried out by the Edge AI Kit and then processed data goes to MatchX cloud through the LoRaWAN. NOTE: EdgeX comes without MatchX LoRaWAN gateway.
