What is it?

This module is a four-digit 7-segment clock display with an I2C interface, white LEDs, and 0.9" tall digits. The LEDs are large and bright, and the I2C interface provides a simple and powerful control using only 2 signal and 2 power wires. Additionally, it can be powered from 3V or 5V (5V gives a slightly brighter display). It has four 3mm diameter mounting holes and can easy be connected from an unpopulated 0.1" pin header or from the JST-ST (STEMMA, QWIIC) connector.

Why did you make it? What makes it special?

I was unable to find a large 7-segment display with the dots optimized for use in a clock or timer without going directly to a manufacturer. So, I purchased a batch of the displays from Luckylight and designed the PCBA around the display. This module draws heavy inspiration from Sparkfun's Serial-7-Segment display line, with my own take on the firmware. The firmware is designed to be connected via I2C, and the register map is designed to for the module to easily be driven as a clock or timer (although you can use it as a purely numerical display as well).
