What is it?

GameBug is a pair of breakout boards for everyone who is making his own games. The board comes fully assembled.

For input on each board you will find:

one analog joysticks (X/Y)
four directions buttons
two select switches with LEDs
shoulder button

For feedback on each board you will find:

RGB LED
Vibration motor

Why did you make it?

I was trying to make a joystick. I put all of the components on the breadboard. The wiring got very messy and hard to debug. Also in the heat of the game there would be button or module popping off its place. That was frustrating to say the least. There custom PCB for gamepads, but they are hard or impossible to modify. With Gamebug you have the flexibility of using a breadboard. You can choose the right dev board for your project and also get the rigidity of custom PCB board.

What makes it special?

For the direction keys I have used Omron switches (B3AL-1000P). They are very high quality and have a nice long travel. The four buttons and the shoulder button are hardware denounced using a Texas Instruments IC.
The analog joystick is from Adafruit
The haptic motor is control by Maxim Integrated chip using PWM.
RGB LEDs are from OSRAM. They are very bright and also can be dimed using PWM.
The Hardware is open and you can find code examples on the git hub repo for Arduino. The examples include a Xbox controller and a test sketch.
