What is it?

The latest version of the popular MeArm robot arm. Nearly 10 years of development and improvement have produced the most versatile and easy to build robot arm kit on the market. MeArm has always been an Open Source project and what you'll be supporting and purchasing is the result of a vast open source ecosystem.

Why did you make it?

Back in 2014 there was a fantastic robot arm that took to kickstarter under the badge of being open source, it wasn't. Rather than take to the comments and rant I took to the laser cutter and set out a series of design constraints. Small footprint, just a sheet of paper size of material, easy to find screws, we used M3 metric machine screws, and cheap servo motors. Before it became a product we shared the project online and people started building them and feeding back into the project. The MeArm was born.

What makes it special?

Well one of the benefits of being Open Source is that it's been copied, sold, and iterated hundreds and thousands of times. Many of the designs you'll see on Ali Express, eBay, Amazon, Taobao, DealBest, etc are nearly a decade old. They use designs that we retired quickly as parts would break easily and construction was frustrating at best. We've kept innovating and improving the design so it works better, and is much much easier to build.
