The Scout series PJP (Portable J-Pole) v3.3 is a "Off-Center Fed folded dipole" (aka: J-Pole) antenna that provides a very rugged structure, efficient design, adjustable center-frequency (in-band tunable), 4X greater gain^ than a stock 'rubber duck' antenna on a handheld radio, and a very low transmit takeoff angle of <3 degrees from the horizon (lower is better). The antenna's dimensions will allow it to fit comfortably into a backpack or similarly sized container.
^4W input yields a 16W (ERP) output, 50W input yields a 200W (ERP) output!
^^Above RF specifications were verified with: Measall KC901K & Siglent SVA-1032X vector network analyzers
This portable antenna is the most rugged & efficient antenna (of it's type) available today! Two popular UHF frequency bands to choose from, Amateur (HAM) 440Mhz (68cm) and GMRS 465Mhz (64cm) bands, other UHF frequency bands are available as "special order". VHF monoband, UHF collinear design (+10dBi), and LoRa bands are currently in R&D, so watch for details! The maximum power rating for this antenna is 125W (watts) and it comes with a crimped (& heat-shrink sealed) BNC-female connector on the end of the antenna feed. Custom Times Microwave LMR-240UF "tuned" coaxial feedlines (though not required but, are strongly suggested) are available for these PJP v3.3 antennas with lengths defined by their loss values (-.5dB & -1.0dB) and their resonant frequency. These custom feedlines will keep the antenna efficiency^^^ and ERP (Effective Radiated Power) output at a maximum when used together! The higher that the antenna is mounted, greater the RF gain and maximum range that can be attained!
Feedline part numbers are: UHF-5.0-FL, UHF-10.0-FL
^^^power dissipation due to impedance mismatch, and signal attenuation caused by excessive length.
