What is it?

This clock, or should we rather call it a counter, counts hours from 0 to 10,000. In his book "Outliers", Malcolm Gladwell examines the factors that contribute to high levels of success. Throughout the publication, Gladwell repeatedly mentions the "10,000-Hour Rule", claiming that the key to achieving world class expertise in any skill, is, to a large extent, a matter of practicing the correct way, for a total of around 10,000 hours.

This clock is just a motivation device showing you where you stand on this 10,000-hour scale !

Why did you make it?

I made this clock because I consistently start new electronics/website projects. Therefore, I always feel that I am a beginner. This is totally false because on the scale of «project planning and idea generating», I am always improving myself.

Counting my hours is for me a reminder that all my projects eventually help me to develop good habits and skills.

What makes it special?

This clock is thought as a tool you can see on your desk when you are working. When you are feeling bored and look at the clock, you eventually remember that you are working for a good reason; that what you are doing is bringing you to the next step of your project and that the effort you are putting out it an investment in yourself.

It is small (not to take too much space) and made of a wooden casing for the nice touch.

What is in the kit?

All electronic components including CPU with preloaded code. All wooden parts of the clock. To assemble, you need a hot glue gun and a soldering iron.
