What is it?

This is a breakout board for the Raspberry Pi Pico that makes every GPIO pin easily available for use in your project and adds several convenient features:

• Both I2C ports made available in convenient Qwiic-style connectors
• Easy SWD connections to debug probe using 3-pin JST connector
• Ability to power board with 7.5-12V using a barrel jack or terminal block
• Every GPIO pin paired with both 3.3V and GND pins, making connections to sensors and other devices easy
• Adjustable ground reference for the analog IO pins.
• Extra 5V and GND power pins.
• A reset button

Why did you make it?

I haven't found a Raspberry Pi Pico breakout board that suits my needs. They are either too complex or not convenient. This breakout board makes it easy to quickly prototype a project, or even use in a more permanent application.

Usage Notes

A Raspberry Pi Pico is included in this kit.

The board may be externally powered with a 7.5V - 12V power source attached to either the barrel jack or the terminal block. An onboard LDO voltage converter which then provides 5V to the Raspberry Pi Pico, and the Pico will convert that to 3.3V. The 3.3V pins are supplied power from the Pico board, so are subject to the current limitations of the Pico. The barrel jack and terminal block are connected directly to each other, allowing you to tap the power being provided to either of them from the other.

The Raspberry Pi Pico may either be soldered directly to the breakout board or you may use pin sockets on the breakout board and pin headers on the Pico to allow you to remove the Pico from the break out board. This kit provides both the pin headers and pin sockets, though you will need to solder them according to your preference.

The analog pins have an adjustable ground reference. You may use the power supply ground by attaching a jumper (provided) between the GND and AGND pins, or provide your own ground reference for the analog pins by attaching it to the AGND pin.

When using the Qwiic connectors for the I2C ports, I2C0 must be configured to be at GP4 & GP5, and I2C1 must be configured to be at GP6 & GP7.
