ATMEL/Microchip Chip Cloner Copier Standalone ISP Programmer for programming AT89LP Devices without a Computer.

Newly designed board with improved firmware, this programmer programs 25 times faster than the previous versions! (up to 4 MHz). You can use the programmer as a standalone programmer on site or connect the programmer to the USB port to view the output messages.

Similar to my other programmer here, however this one will also read as well as program. Simple to use, just remove jumper J1 to put the AT89LP Chip Copier in read mode and connect to your device ISP circuit. The AT89LP Chip Copier will read your device and save the data in its memory. You can select which memories you want the The AT89LP Chip Copier to copy, so if you don't want to copy the eeprom, data memories or signature row memories, just disable those options in the menu. There is also an option to secure (LOCK) the chip after it's programmed. The AT89LP Chip Copier will copy Flash, Data or Eeprom, User Signature Row including any calibration bytes and all Fuses. If the lock bits have been programmed, the AT89LP Chip Copier will not be able to read the contents. Please don't ask!

The AT89LP Chip Copier holds configuration and data data copied from your AT89LP device in its memory until it is changed even if it is powered off, and then operates as a standalone programmer. Great for bulk programming or for updating devices for customers. To program simply install jumper J1 and connect to your AT89LP ISP circuit. Now the AT89LP Chip Copier is in write mode and will write the memory contents previously stored. It can even program the lock bits all within seconds. It's that easy!

Why did you make it?

The Atmel software for programming the AT89LP series microcontrollers works with the parallel port of your PC. WHO these days has a computer with a parallel port? If you do, good luck using it with windows 10!

I work with these microcontrollers quite frequently. I needed a reliable programmer that would also work as a standalone unit so it can be used on site without a PC. I sometimes have multiple devices to program with the same code and configuration. The AT89LP Chip Copier is fast and easy.

Programming these devices is tedious, complicated and troublesome. There is really nothing affordable that is available to program the AT89LP devices. This programmer simplifies the programming operation!

When I need to program a large quantity of devices, I use this little programmer for bulk programming, anywhere, using the power from the target or a USB power supply. When one device is tested and ready to go, I just connect the AT89LP Chip Copier to the circuit and within a few seconds, the chip is read. No complicated fuses or other configuration to figure out, it just works.

What makes it special?

The AT89LP Chip Copier uses the Four-Wire SPI Programming Interface. (MOSI, MISO, SCK and RESET. Some devices also use SS). There are other aftermarket programmers available but they are very expensive, and some of them do not offer standalone operation.

Simplicity is the key here. All you have to do is set up configuration with a terminal program for the very first time, then The AT89LP Chip Copier is ready to be used either as a Standalone ISP copier/programmer or connected to your computer to see the messages while reading/writing.
