This little programmer will read your device and save the data in the programmers memory for programming one or multiple devices in mass production mode. It uses the 4 wire ISP mode for programming. The following pins are required for programming: MISO, MOSI, SCK and Reset. A 10 pin ISP cable is included.
Very EASY to use, just remove jumper J1 to put the AVR Chip Copier in read mode and connect to the AVR ISP circuit of the source device. The AVR Chip Copier will read the device and store the data in the programmers memory.
To program the target simply install jumper J1 to put the AVR Chip Copier in write mode and connect to the AVR ISP circuit of the target device. Now the programmer will write the memory contents previously stored in the programmers memory. The operation couldn't be any easier!
First time configuration will require a PC terminal connection to set the programming options. You can enable or disable all of the read/write operations in the configuration menu. (i.e. flash, eeprom, fuse and bock bit read/write options).
The AVR Chip Copier will copy any AVR in the device list below. Please check the device list to ensure the device you want to program is in the list.
If the lock bits have been programmed, the AVR Chip Copier will not be able to read the contents. Please don't ask!
When programming multiple boards, sometimes any of the operations can easily be overlooked, (like programming fuse or lock bits). The AVR Chip Copier simplifies the programming operation so you know for sure the fuses or the lock bits have been programmed and verified.
You must use a computer to set it up initially. Once set up, the AVR Chip Copier runs from the target power and will program as many devices as you want. The data is stored in the programmers memory until it is changed when another device is read.
