What is it?

This item is a programmer for the Atmel/Microchip AT89LP series microcontrollers. With a newly designed board and improved firmware, this programmer loads and programs 25 times faster than the previous versions! (up to 4 MHz).

If you have an older version of this programmer V3.5 - V4.0 you can obtain a FREE firmware update. Please send me a message with your Tindie order number and the firmware version you have in your board.

You can use the programmer as a standalone programmer on site or connect the programmer to the USB port for programming. Similar to my other AT89LP programmer here.

Why did you make it?

The Atmel software for programming the AT89LP series microcontrollers works with the parallel port of your PC. WHO these days has a computer with a parallel port?

I work with these microcontrollers quite frequently. I needed a reliable programmer that would also work as a standalone unit so it can be used on site without a PC. I sometimes have multiple devices to program with the same code and configuration. The AT89LP ISP Programmer is fast and easy.

What makes it special?

The AT89LP ISP Programmer uses the Four-Wire SPI Programming Interface. (MOSI, MISO, SCK and RESET. Some devices also use SS).

There are other aftermarket programmers available but they are very expensive, and some of them do not offer standalone operation.

Simplicity is the key here. All you have to do is load your hex files and set up configuration with a terminal program, then The AT89LP ISP Programmer is ready to be used either as a Standalone ISP programmer or connected to your computer.
